World Askew is the online nexus (and IRL taxable entity) of the Pete Angevine meta project.
Pete Angevine is a big picture thinker, a savvy entrepreneurial dreamer, and an astute observer who weaves together disparate ideas, people and resources to

Pete Angevine works independently as a creative producer and musician with a constellation of individuals and organizations at the intersection of fields including unconventional music, public art, healing, and the natural world. He has collaborated to conjure and present many creative projects including musical albums; experimental theater productions; Little Baby's Ice Cream; public-history-themed-augmented-reality-apps; art exhibitions; a Wide Range of Popular, Experimental, and Intuitive Musics, a comically small residential art gallery; dozens of public murals; watershed science annotated walking tours; two beloved children; psychedelic sound healing ceremonies; a grass couch; interactive sound sculptures; outdoor communal listening experiences; a book; a mutual-aid restaurant; site-specific historically-interpretive artist-designed miniature golf holes; trash gongs; a rapid-growth native forest; and much more.

In a previous life, he co-founded, led, and shut down an "innovative" and "beloved" small-batch Ice Cream company.
Prior to that, he performed, recorded, taught, and studied various musics across North America and Europe with many different artists and bands.
And this brazenly self-promotional website written in the third-person belies
every instinct of his punk-adjacent roots.

but what does he actually do?
It depends on what is needed in a given situation! There are many contributions required to realize a collaborative vision.
Here's a few examples of things I'm currently working on.

I am the proud publisher of Eternal Rhythm, a very special new book about my hero and yours, Don Cherry. This is the closest thing we have to an autobiography of Don, as the book is largely his words, compiled by his good friend Graeme Ewens over many years. I worked with Graeme over the course of a year to revise and expand his original version, with major design assistance from Mike Almquist, and wrote a forward.
I instigated and organized this future-facing, multifaceted, long-term public project with many organiations and the Philadelphia community to establish a tiny forest on a vacant lot in Kensington.
By utilizing the Miyawaki Method for rapid native forest creation, ten years after first planting, this formerly industrial site will have matured into a cool, shady, dense, and biodiverse public space teeming with life and activity — birds, bugs, bats and all manner of biotic beings, alongside human community gathering, healing, creating, learning, music-making, listening, reflecting, and resting — representing a universal truth that with (bio)diversity comes abundance.
Follow the Sound is a communal outdoor listening experience that combines a guided nature walk with live music. Each ambulatory program is attuned to the here and now of its site — birds, bugs, water, and wind — creating a moment of shared awareness and presence.
Follow the Sound events are free and have been hosted at various sites throughout the Philadelphia area including John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum, the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education, Stoneleigh: a natural garden, and more, each led by a naturalist with expertise of the local ecosystem.
I created and produce this series on behalf of Bowerbird.
Gongs in Schools, a pilot program that introduces sound healing, deep listening, and vibrational therapy into five Philadelphia public schools through sound bath activations and hands-on training for students and staff in the use of sound healing instruments.
Its goals are to promote mental wellness, emotional regulation, and stress relief among students and educators through sound-based meditation practices, and to equip school communities with tools for self-directed mindfulness and restorative practices after the run of the program.
Public Art
He produces, consults and manages public art projects for several organizations. He has become skilled in navigating the complex ecosystem of stakeholders, regulations, artistic integrity, and feasibility of various types of art in the public realm.
Program +
Project Development
He helps to conceive, develop, plan, and execute programs and projects across many fields in roles that touch on curation, project management, logistics, strategic partnerships, resource development, branding, marketing, vision, and more.
Musica
He is a lifelong musician and participant in various music communities, especially in the realms of improvisation and sound healing. He develops new operational models and launches new projects with
multiple Philadelphia based music presenting non-profits, while also remaining a devoted patron.

Why blend in all this stuff from "non-professional" life?

We built a 2' x 3' diorama box in our living room which may or may not function as Philadelphia's smallest art gallery. Occassionally, on a Sunday morning, we host an opening to celebrate a new installation by a selected friend/artist. Featured here is Lucia Thome's
"Toned & Tired"
from January, 2020.
